REAL

I’ve grown to love the sound of rain and the warmth of my blanket at this time,
This time when the world is outside my haven, and right here all I am is me,
I can smile at my fantasies and laugh at my thoughts of all the funny things,
My alone time when realities are what I want them to be,
I love the calm background music from my speaker and the light colors from my lamp,
The scent of my room and when I cuddle my favorite pillow, my comfort,
Behind these walls is where I found a beauty that I thought was unknown,
A realm only I could access and allow a reveal of my true self,
I’m the only one that can unlock these doors that keep me in a separate place,
And the only one that can see the power within, the only one that can understand the magic in it,
Here flowers grow tall and turn a bunch of thick thorns into a bouquet of wonders,
There are completely no chains that tie me down to expectations of others,
The mirrors are as clear as the waters in a sea of paradise,
What I see when I look at them, is a reflection of greatness,
A genuine smile that radiates light as bright as the colors of the sky,
Here is where no captions matter, just a world filled with infinite dreams,
A rare safe space that only means I can still redeem my peace,
This part of me, many will fail to see,
Because walls have been built around and they are too thick to breach,
In this entity, It’s only me. They wouldn’t even believe I exist,
At the surface is where they think all of me lives,
I have waited to take this to the outside, where everyone else is,
I have wondered if others deserve to see me,
Questioned if they’ll accept this, it might be too raw to take in,
I end up building more walls, stronger than before,
Walls that start in acceptance and end in compassion,
For as long as I can be selfish, I’ll gatekeep the real me.
